Halloween Marketing 101

Now that Thanksgiving has passed, because at TDLC we respect holiday order (we're looking at you - stores that already have your Christmas stuff out!) Sorry... where were we? Oh yes! It is almost Halloween! We LOVE Halloween!

Ghosts, goblins, and vampires run a muck. The stores are filled with bright orange and black decorations. Someone always has some sort of candy to share because let's face it, the first box you buy never makes it to the 31st.  The days are cooler and there is so much to do! Anything from haunted houses to pumpkin picking. So what is your business doing to capitalize on the spooky season?  Check out our list of suggestions to get more business this Halloween!

Make a Halloween Logo

Logos are how your customers recognize your business. Creating a holiday themed logo is a great way to have a little fun. Don't go too crazy or else your customers might not recognize you but switching up your color scheme or adding a couple bat wings is a fun way to honor the season.

Costume Parade for your Mascot
"Ve vant to do your marketing"
"Whooooo does your marketing?"

"Franken Pudgie is ready to build you an
awesome online presence"
"We're brewing up some great content!"

Do you have a mascot or brand ambassador? Dress them up and use them in your Halloween promotions! Just like your Logo this is how your customers recognize you. Have fun with it! And don't forget to load these attributes onto your website and social media platforms. Set a reminder to take them down for November 1st or rock them a little longer, we won't judge ^_^

Offer a Halloween Deal/Incentive
People are always looking for a deal so why not theme your next discount to match the season. 10% off to anyone wearing a costume. BOGO to those who can find the skeleton on your website. You can even run a simple social media contest to boost your reach such as "guess how many somethings are in the jar" then like and share this post. All of these can be done throughout the year but throw in a Halloween twist and you are bound to catch your audience's attention.

Spookify your products!
Mom, I Need a Cake

Halloween offers many adjectives that can be paired with your original products and services to give you a seasonal edge. Have products that are red? Now they're blood red or vampire kiss. Offering food services? Make them to match the mood!

You can also take note of the big brand's strategies and match your incentive or product line with a cool hashtag to target your posts, like Chipotle's #boorito. The possi-"boo"-lities (haha see what we did there?) are endless!

Whatever you decide to do, the point is to have fun. Get in touch with your inner witch and put a spell on your audience. The most frightening thing is when it's over and the Christmas music starts!😱😱😱

Top 5 Reasons Why You Need Social Media

1. It's Not Going Away

Much to the previous generation's chagrin, social media is here to stay.  It is the one stop shop where people gather information, voice their opinions and engage with companies today. People are more inclined to leave comments on a Facebook page or post a picture to Instagram than ever before. And that is what you want them to do with your company. You want to start this conversation, have your information readily accessible and be able to edit it quickly if necessary.

2. It's Free Advertising (Mostly)

Now the mostly refers to actually paying for advertising, which is an option. What I am referring to is the conversations your customers start for you.  So their friend browsing their Instagram sees the awesome time they had at your place last week and they want to go to. Not only did you reach the person who used your services but their friends, family, and friends of their friends! That is a pretty fair reach for one post, comment, and/or picture.

3. Open The Lines of Communication

Your customers want to talk to you. They have opinions you NEED to hear, and trust me, you want to hear them. Say you're a pizza place and just put a new item on the menu. You think it's AMAZING! People tell you in person after ordering it was awesome! You're on the right track. But people are more so inclined to share their real opinions behind a keyboard. Maybe too much garlic? (There is no such thing by the way!) Though this type of opinion can be considered negative, it is important to hear what your audience has to say so you can make informed decisions. Trust me. We will touch on handling negativity in a later post.

4. Instant Updates

Are you closed? Running an amazing sale? Within minutes you could reach out and inform your audience! Weather happens fast and sometimes a great idea just has to be released immediately. Don't hold back! Shout your announcements from your platforms and reap the rewards.

5. It's Environmentally Friendly

Who needs a printer and paper? Those glossy ads look divine on a computer screen and you can save some trees while you're at it. Why fiddle around with checking print quality and if your colours will actually print the way they appear on your screen? Why spend money on paper with dates that will make it obsolete in a few months? Or information that needs to be updated continuously? I love paper (and of course I will take care of all your graphic design needs!) but this is an awesome alternative or complimentary partner.

And there you have it folks! Five reasons why you should contact TDLC Marketing today! For all your social media marketing and graphic design needs. I look forward to hearing from you.
